Partial Replacement of Kosaric Medium With Banana Leaf Ash Extract for the Culture of Spirulina Platensis

The use of banana leaf ash extract (BLAE) as a replacement Kosaric medium (KM) to grow spirulina (Spirulina platensis) was investigated. KM partially replaced with more affordable and locally available BLAE at 0, 10, 30, 50, 70% concentrations. grown for 18 days room temperature in the experimental media artificial lighting aeration. By replacing BLAE, 30% produced highest biomass S. platensis. It observed that by 1.22 g/L, which similar 1.33 g/L control (P <0.05). However, than 50% failed promote growth relative control.
